Scrapp'n Savvy BLOG HOP and Sampler

Woohoo!  Today is the first day of the Sampler at Scrapp'n Savvy. The project is so incredibly adorable.  I just love it!  For those of you in the dark......every 3 months the store has a sampler.  For $10 you come and make a project (complete), maybe learn something new, see new products, meet the teachers and see their upcoming projects, and basically have fun.  Oh, and shop!  There is always good stuff on sale during sampler!

This time is a bit different though.  We are doing a BLOG HOP too!  So here goes......  During the hop, you will learn about each of the teachers classes at the store and be eligible to win FREE class sessions.  To enter, you MUST leave a comment on EACH teacher's blog and then return to the Scrapp'n Savvy blog and leave a comment that you have completed the hop.

Let me tell you a bit about my sampler project.  This quarter the project is a wooden "home" banner that you decorate to fit your style.  I think it is so cute.  Karrie chose neutral colors to begin with and each person then adds their own style and character.  My favorite part?  Well, when I think of home I think of my children.  It worked perfectly to place a picture of each one between the letters.  Let me show a quick pic:
This is my oldest son.  I tried several different techniques to print on cotton fabric and finally got it right.  I LOVE how the sepia toned pic turned out.  I printed a photo of each child, in sepia tone, on a piece of cream fabric.  I then stitched them onto a canvas banner (available at the store).  I added a bit more stitching, some acrylic paint around the edges, some leftover trim from a different project, and some embellishment.  Each one is slightly different but all have the trim and embellishments.
This is a snapshot of the banner.  My banner is too long to get a good photo for here.  Come by the sampler to see the whole thing.  You can see the "H" and "O" and how the photos hang between.  I also did some unusual things with trims and ribbons.  I know just where I am hanging it1

I also wanted to give you a sneak peak at my new class projects.  While these are not pics of the whole project, they are enough for you to get excited!
Project for May:  Country Garden Mini deskflip mini album.  Do you see a garden trellis?
June project:  Triple feature.  A trio of extraordinary mini minis.  Think blissfully small.
April project:  Flower box with tag mini.  Springtime.  Flowers.  Beautiful colors.  With a twist!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to comment on each of the blogs below for your chance to win a free class!  Just click on the next name to go to the next blog.  Enjoy!

Terrible twos!

I have 5 wonderful children.  They range in age from 8 to 18.  Note - no toddler aged children!  So, you may be wondering about the title....terrible twos!  Well,  I also have 3 cats.  I have blogged about them before but late last night I came to a tremendous realization.  I am once again living in a house with a terrible two year old!  His name is Edmund.  He is stunning, playful, and very smart.
He is the love of my daughter's life.  He plays with ANYTHING!  He talks.  Yes, he really talks.....he is right here now talking to me as if to ask "what are you saying about me?".  Edmund is not actually 2 yet; more like just over 1.  What makes him a terrible 2 you ask?  Well, he throws fits for one.  Yesterday he was reprimanded for trying to get into the cabinets in the bathroom (like he needs to be in there) and we spent the whole day dealing with his fits....could not pick him up, he growled at us, he "complained" all day (little meows and such), and he knocked over tons of stuff.  That brings me to the main reason I think he is in his terrible 2's.  He constantly, I mean ALWAYS, knocks stuff down.  Specifically he knocks over cups that have liquid in them.  (We must have ghosts in the house because somehow there are usually around 20 cups dirty each day even though we only have 7 people in the house!  another story for another day)  I am always having to clean up his spills.  I think he spills more than my 5 did all put together.  He spilled a large cup of juice the other day while I was out.  It covered the whole countertop, ran down the front of 3 cabinets, into drawers, onto the floor....well, you get the picture.  We are still finding sticky spots a week later!

My point in telling you all of this is to explain why there is no picture project today.  I downloaded a picture to put here.  Then handed the camera to a child (an older one) for a school project.  Now for my mistake....I walked away from the computer.  Yep...Edmund jumped up onto the keyboard and somehow hit delete.  Poof!  No more photos!  Can't seem to get them back either.  Gotta love that little grey guy.

So.  For all of you out there that still have little ones at home....I feel for you.  And for those of you who don't.....well, I feel for you too!  I remember my kids as little ones when i could not get anything done and sometimes miss those days.  You know what I mean.  Just be grateful for your days with them.  Take the time to make the memories you will have later on.

Pictures....I will repost project pics this afternoon when I retrieve the camera.  But for now, I will leave you with a couple more pics from spring break.
tropical lush!  In my front yard at the bayhouse!

Even though they are messy seagulls are pretty birds.

One heck of a big blue!  Caught on a fishing pole from the dock.  8 inch shell.  Too bad he went home with a friend instead of to our table for dinner!

Come back tonight.  I will have some scrapp happiness for you!  Locals.....have you signed up for the scrappin sampler at Scrapp n' Savvy?  There are a few spots left for this weekend.  Way cool project!

my spring break - pics

Well, as you know we spent our spring break at the beach.  The weather was wonderful (is there bad weather when you are at the beach?) and I sure enjoyed having everyone down.  I thought I would let ya'll in on  a few of the fun happenings from our week:
This was our first sunset this time.  It had been a little cool and rainy but the sunset was fabulous!   Our place is on the bayside so we always have perfect sunset views.  It literally looked like fire.  But you had to be ready for it because it only lasted a few minutes.  I understand what they mean when they say the sun dropped like a stone from the sky.....it's there one minute and gone the next!
This is my oldest with our first round of fish!   Yeah!  3 redfish and 1 speckled trout.  They were huge!  Obviously found the honey hole this time!  They had a great, and I mean GREAT, week fishing.  It was probably the best since we have had the house.  Another day they came back with 5 I think, all reds.  Oh, and of course, how could I forget......my hubby took my oldest daughter and middle son out.  She was miserable apparently.  They had caught 2 keepers and decided to cast one last time and head home.  And wham!  She caught the biggest redfish ever!  Boy was she proud (pic on hubby's phone or it would be here!)  We ate a ton of fish (nothing better than fresh caught fish) and still brought some home for this Friday.
And the BEST!  My niece and her family were with us most of the week.  The little guy is SOOOOO stinkin' cute!  I just love him to pieces.  He had a blast on the beach.  Loved the water even though it was a bit cool.  We played in the sand, dug around in it, but mostly splashed in the water.
Little guy with my youngest daughter.  He would look at her like "why are you sitting down?"  It was really cute.  He finally plopped down beside her.  All my kids love playing with him.  My youngest has finally passed the jealousy stage.  He knows I will always be his mom and he will always be MY little guy.   So now he plays with him and acts like a big brother.   Fun to watch.

I think we all enjoyed our week.  Hated to see the little guy go home but we will see them soon.  I think if we all had our way they (and all the cousins) would just live with us!  What fun that would be!  But back to school, and work, and scrapping....

Class today.  You know how I know I have class today?  Because it is going to rain.  Epically.  Every class I have taught this year has been on the days it has rained really bad.  I mean the days where places have flooded.  Flooded where ladies have not been able to get to us.  Rained like we needed an ark!  And of course today is no exception!  It is supposed to be really bad here today.  So, off I go for class.....  Today I will be teaching the Spring Break mini album.  It is made with the My Mind's Eye Sunshine collection.  I will be using the boy's accessory sheet with it.  The mini is 6 x 6 and has some cute interactive pages.  Looking forward to putting some of the 200 pics I took at spring break in it!  Oh no, lightening.....thunder.

I am going to end the post now so I don't loose it all when the power starts flashing.  Have a great day.  Check out the Gallery page.  I plan to post pics of each page of the mini album today.

Headed home

Well, spring break is coming to an end. We will be heading back home this afternoon. I hate having to leave when it is so pretty outside. I have thoroughly enjoyed the week but am looking forward to being back in my bed tonight!

I had a hard time deciding what to bring with me to work on this week. I finally decided on bringing my copic markers so I could play with them. It was great. I was able to sit outside and draw some images then color them. Some didn't make it And got round filed! But I am bringing home some to make cards with. There are also two that I just want to keep because I really like the way they turned out.

So now I am bringing these home and I know I will want to go straight to my desk and make cards. But, there is so much other stuff to do when we get home. Ugh....it will have to wait for the week.

I will be posting pics from the week starting Sunday night. Stop back by to see them. Happy scrapping yall.

Spring Break!!!!

It's finally spring break here!  Oh, I really am looking forward to this week.  We are headed to the bay for the week for some fun in the sun.  Well, I hope it gets sunny.  Lots of clouds and rain now.  The bayhouse is so much more tranquil than here.  I think it's because I know I don't have to clean until we are leaving versus here I know I have to clean or something else will come up.  Not that the house there gets dirty......well, hopefully you get my drift!

My niece, her husband, and THE BABY are coming too!  Yep, love that little guy and can hardly wait to see him.  Going to have some stinkin' cute pics when we come home.  We have some other friends coming down, some of the kids friends, and possibly another nephew or two!  Woohoo.  Like my hubby says, work at the bayhouse is not work....it's fun!

The hardest part about being there for a week is deciding what art stuff to take.  I have some things there but not much.  I can never decide if I should stick with painting and drawing stuff, scrapbook stuff, or sewing stuff.   I have so many things I want to get done.  I also know that I will want to be outside and with our family too.  And, there is only so much I want to haul up stairs.  So, I have that part of my packing to figure out still.  I know there will not be a post this week but check back the following week.  I will have some pics of the bay to post here.

For those of you locally, check out the Scrapp n' Savvy website.  The sampler is happening at the end of the month and I would love to see you there.  I am excited about my new projects and very excited that I can offer them on Saturdays.  Come on by and get scrap happy!

Be safe on your travels this week.

Feels like spring, well, maybe

It sure feels like Spring here.  Warm, not too warm though.  Humid, sometimes a bit too humid.  Partly cloudy skies.  Light wind.  This is one of my favorite times of the year.  I love that I can be outside without melting due to heat and humidity.  I love driving and seeing all the ranches with big open fields that are turning beautiful shades of green and they are beginning to fill with beautiful wildflowers almost yelling "I am here!".  There is something magical to me to see a stand of trees that are "winter dead" and in the middle is a redbud tree blooming or a lipstick vine climbing and blooming.  The burst of color against a bleak background makes you take notice.  I was driving to a friend's house yesterday and was stopped at a light.  I happened to look out my window and was awarded a wonderful display of lovely wildflowers.  As I was admiring them something moved within the deep green.....a baby bunny!  Well, I don't know if it was a baby but it sure was small!  And precious!  It was perfectly hidden in all the greenery and flowers.  What a perfect picture of springtime.

I titled this post "feels like spring, well, maybe" because when I went out this morning it is cold again!  Not freezing, but cold.  Certainly not spring-like.  Oh, well.  My little guy and I are still going to plant the garden today.  We have been seeding 8 different veggies in peat pots in the kitchen for the last couple of weeks.  He is so excited!  I can hardly wait to see his face when we get veggies!   I am also hoping to get a project done today, go see my grandmother, and go back to my friends house.  I think I need a 48 hour day!

What crafty happiness will you do today?
